Jason Nelson

General Counsel

As General Counsel, Jason is responsible for overseeing all M&A activity and managing corporate governance, as well as providing strategic counsel for internal functions including, but not limited, to Operations, Human Resources, and Sales.

Jason has 20 years’ experience in executive level advising for corporations and brings a wealth of legal knowledge and expertise to influence business-driven decisions. As former General Counsel for the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas, Jason worked with the Tribal Council, the Tribal Administrator, and CFO, and the Tribe’s economic enterprises in the United States and the Republic of Mexico. His practice included all areas of federal, state, tribal, and international law, including economic and policy development, commercial contracts, lending, joint ventures, and more. Prior to that, Jason was in private practice with law firms including Barry Conge Bond, Burleson, and Hogan Lovells, where he represented public and private clients in a panoply of complex transactional areas, including securities, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate governance, capital markets, commercial contracts, and debt finance. Prior to becoming an attorney, Jason worked in finance with prominent firms such as Wachovia Securities, Enron Energy Services, and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Jason graduated with a JD, cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School, MA in Organizational Behavior and MA in Sociology from Stanford University, MBA from Tulane University, and a BS in Finance, summa cum laude, from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
